OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

OUTDOOR
SEASON

The outdoor program takes place during the spring and summer months and are for both beginners and the more advanced track and field competitors. Our goal is to introduce the fundamentals of running, throwing, jumping and race walking to beginners and develop and refine the more experienced athletes overall skills in track and filed events.  Everyone participates because there are no benches as each athlete will have an opportunity to train and compete in all aspects of track and field.

We're Creating Great Experiences

We believe sports should be fun and accessible to every child and adolescent
So we've created programs designed to do just that!

2024 Outdoor Season

Due to COVID-19 safeguards, our club  will only offer a traditional program to members to paricipate, including instruction and structured specialized training sessions in different running, throwing and jumping events with weekly competitions, as well as the opporunity to compete on the district, regional and national levels. This season, we will not offer structured training sessions that are specifically geared toward conditioning for other sports to excel to the next level of development or non-competative recreational purposes.

The 2024 outdoor program starts April 27th through the first week in August. We participate in several competitions locally, state-wide, out-of-state and nationally. Majority of out-of-town meets will require overnight accommodations with families assuming responsibility for transportation, lodging, and meal costs. Our club will participate in 3 to 5 developmental meets, which majority will take place on the weekend in May and June. Our Club also participates in both AAU and USATF sanctioned meets, including competitive week-long national championships and the Junior Olympic Games.

Age Divisions

We welcome both girls and boys in elementary, middle and high school, ages 18 & under (preferably starting at the age of 12 yrs.) regardless of skill and fitness levels. There are no special requirements - no tryouts, cuts or prior experience required to competitively participate in the program - just a great attitude, desire to learn and improve and commitment toward embracing the process as there are many different events for everyone. Athletes compete based on age divisions that are determined by the athlete's age as of December 31st of each year. Athletes who turns 19 after the conclusion of the Junior Olympics or National Championships are eligible to compete in the Yong Women's and Yong Men's divisions.  Athletes will participate in both AAU and USATF sanctioned meets.

  • volunteer coaching staff

  • first aid staff
  • fundraising committee
  • end of the season banquet committee

For more information about volunteering and to commit your services in support of the club, a Parent Commitment Contract will be required to complete during the registration process.

"The only person that I compete with is the person I was yesterday."
J.W. Walker, III

Life is a journey and there will be barriers and hurdles to test our faith, strength and character. The key to dealing with barriers is to undergo and embrace the process. We are reminded of the message that Inky Johnson shares: "The process is more valuable than the product." As coaches of youth track and field, the process is substantially more valuable and important than the result. The process does not only test you, it also teaches valuable lessons and when you commit to the process - never giving up and overcoming setback and obstacles - a metamorphosis happens. You transform in the process. The person you become in the process - the skills learned, the experiences gained, the insight discovered - makes a better version of yourself.
